Pimlico shines at Breyerfest

Breyer horse Thee Desperado with Arabian horse breeder Judy Sirbasku

The 19th annual Breyerfest, held at the Kentucky Horse Park, was amazing for the Arabians Ltd. staff and horses who attended! The attendance topped 6500 people–it’s the busiest weekend of the year for the Park, and Thee Desperado and his accomplishments were honored in a huge way as his model was officially debuted!

Desperado son Pimlico RCA and Egyptian Event Champion Yearling Colt Thee Epitome RCA were presented by Marketing Director John Neyer and Head Trainer Luis Paniagua in the main ring every day as Desperado’s representatives. Desperado prefers not to travel, so we let him relax at home. They joined nearly 200 horses in a celebration of various breeds and disciplines, and were the only Arabians there!

Crowds wait in line with Thee Desperado's model

Lines formed daily for Judy to sign Desperado’s model, and Pimlico happily posed with fans. One special fan tearfully told Judy the story of how she’d had to sell her Thee Desperado son to make a down payment on her home. Judy invited her to the farm to pick out a gelding when the time was right for her.

Farm Photographer/Videographer Randi Clark had been dreaming of Thee Desperado as a Breyer horse for over a decade. The 2008 Breyerfest was the culmination of much hard work and planning, and the reward for many people who’ve requested that Desperado be made a model over the years. One of these fans was the young Jacklyn Abernathy (left), who got to attend and join the celebration with her mother, Arabians Ltd. client Jeanne Abernathy. Client Patricia Palm, her daughter, and Waco vet Dr. Tracy Kelly were also in attendance. It was great to see familiar faces to help join in this wonderful recognition of our most famous resident.
